Dear Parents
We've almost finished learning about the Great Fire of London. The children have produced some lovely work. We have some fantastic art work depicting the Great fire and the children have really enjoyed using an ICT program and paint and pastels to create fire scenes. Our language activities will focus on Autumn next week and we will be collecting 'Wow' words to up level our sentences. We will be using drama on a Wednesday to help us improve our writing and the children will also be bringing home 'Talking homework' on a Wednesday. This will usually be a question or discussion points to share with you at home. It will really help if you could spend time talking about each topic and introducing some 'Wow' words for the children to use in their writing. Thursday will be our day for ' Big Writing'. This is when the children will use all the information gathered through lessons, drama and talking homework to create an extended piece of writing.
In maths this week we have been looking at '1 more' on the number-line and adding two numbers to 10. All the children are able to count two sets of objects to 10, but have found it challenging to count on from a given number to 10. We will revisit this again during our 'Mega Maths' session each day.
We are looking forward to meeting you all next week during Parents' evenings when we will be able to chat about your child in more detail. In order to prevent waiting times for parents we have been asked by Mr Davies to keep each appointment to 10 minutes. If you feel you need more time than this We will book another appointment for a different day.
Many thanks
Mrs Udy and Mrs Evans
