Dear Parents,
We are well into our summer term and the children have thought of really interesting things they would like to find out about based on our topic 'Seaside Explorers'. Ask your child to tell you some of the ideas we listed on our mind map.

Thank you for all your seeds we had fun digging our flower bed and planting a variety of seeds. We've planted flowers, herbs and vegetables so it should be a full and colourful patch. I will post photographs of its progress as the weeks go by.

We had a visit from a pirate last week and he took the children around the school on a hunt for treasure. He was lost and he didn't understand why there were no rock pools or cliffs and sand around our school. We are going to use this visit as a 'hook' for our geography lessons about contrasting localities. Our visit to the seaside will also fit in with this idea. During our trip we will be creating art on the beach in the style of artist Andy Goldsworthy, carrying out a science investigation and sorting litter based on the materials used.
We have asked for wellies and a rain coat but we are hoping we will need sun hat and sun cream!!

PE is still on Tuesday and Thursday however there has been no PE in the hall this week as the older children are using the hall for their tests. We will use our PE time outside to assess the children's skills on a bike and and throwing and catching ball skills.

Our Language work this week is based on dictionary skills. How to use the ABC of the dictionary to find words and their definitions.
In Maths we are finding 'How many 10s in a number?' and adding 10s
